A Bulk Filtration Solutions Offering
Donaldson Filtration Systems (Pty) Ltd (DFSPL) has signed contracts with numerous oil companies to provide bulk filtration for mining sites.
DFSPL designs and sells bulk filtration systems. Currently, their focus is in Africa, having provided solutions for clients in over 15 countries, including South Africa, Mali, Ghana, Niger, Guinea, Cote D’Ivoire and Zambia. In the near future, three additional regions will be supported: South America, Carribean and Asia.
Once an inquiry is received, Donaldson’s bulk filtration technical division evaluates the project, informs the client of what is required and designs and sells the filtration system. This system is then installed on site by a local engineering company, after which, a Donaldson technician travels to commission the site.
Most recently, Donaldson worked on a project for Bonikro Mine, a diesel site, in Cote D’ Ivoire. Once the filtration system had been installed, Deon Cilliers, Technical Support Engineer, travelled to the site for inspection of the installation and commissioning.
Cilliers states, “In the modern times of high pressure fuel injector systems, it is imperative to have cleaner fuel in order to save downtime and maintenance costs and therefore drive down TCO (total cost of ownership)”.
A set of filters was installed on the downloading side with a water separator and particle removal filters. The same set of filters, were installed on the transfer pump to the day tanks and to the dispensing hose reels for the dump trucks and small vehicles respectively. Breathers were also installed to complete the process.
A sample was taken before the filters on down loading and one from the hose reel for the dump trucks. These two samples were compared.

The Worldwide Fuel Charter requires an ISO 4406 particulate cleanliness specification of 18/16/13, bearing this in mind, it is clear Donaldson is setting a superior standard for bulk filtration cleanliness.
